I don’t understand people who come from a place of “no” in the workplace. They ask for ideas, you bring them up, and then they poke holes in your ideas until you decide not to pursue them. Or they ask for ideas and don’t execute on any of them ever, choosing to disregard your thoughts without any kind of follow-up.
Come from a place of yes. When someone approaches you with something — no matter how inexperienced they may be or how outlandish the idea — think about it for a moment before you respond. Don’t say no. Ask questions, but don’t say no. From the intern to the chief marketing officer.
Saying no or poking holes in ideas right off the bat is the quickest way to kill creativity.
